Make guarding against fault itself the object of protection, because fault itself is the enemy that brings ruin.

குற்றமே காக்க பொருளாகக் குற்றமே

The life of one who does not guard before a fault arrives will perish like a heap of dry straw before fire.

வருமுன்னர்க் காவாதான் வாழ்க்கை எரிமுன்னர்

Cherish as advisers those able both to remedy a present harm and to foresee and prevent its return.
