Terms of use

Last updated: 2026

Welcome to Thekural.org. By using this site you agree to these terms. They're meant to be plain and fair.

Free to read

The site is free to read. You're welcome to read, quote a line with credit, link to pages, and share links. You may not copy our edition wholesale, scrape it in bulk, mirror it, or build a competing or derivative product from our content or code without written permission.

What's ours and what isn't

The Thirukkural itself — Thiruvalluvar's Tamil verses, and the public-domain translations and commentary of G.U. Pope, V.V.S. Aiyar, and Parimelazhagar — is public domain and belongs to everyone; use those originals freely from public-domain sources. This edition — our modern translations and explanations, the romanization, the design, and the compilation — is © Thekural.org, all rights reserved.

No warranty

The content is offered in good faith for study and reflection. Modern translations and explanations may be drafts pending scholar review, and scholarship is interpretive — we make no warranty of completeness or fitness for any particular purpose. Tell us about errors; we want to fix them.

Reuse & licensing

Want to use our content in a book, app, classroom product, or research dataset? We're open to it — please ask. Licensing and partnership enquiries: d29194927@gmail.com.

Changes

These terms may be updated as the project grows; the latest version governs.
