பிரிது மொழிதல் அணி (ஒட்டணி)
ஆழமான நீரில் முதலை மற்ற விலங்குகளை வெல்லும்; ஆனால் அது நிலத்திற்கு வந்துவிட்டால் அதை ஒரு சிறிய நாயும் வென்றுவிடும். தன் சொந்தக் களத்தில் மட்டுமே ஒருவன் வெல்ல முடியும் என்பதை அழகாக விளக்குகிறார். — In deep waters, the crocodile overcomes all other beasts; but when it crawls onto dry land, even a dog can destroy it. One must fight only on one's own natural terrain.

முதலை நெடும்புனலுள் பிற வெல்லும்= முதலை ஆழமுடைய நீரின்கண் ஆயின் பிறவற்றை எல்லாம் தான் வெல்லாநிற்கும்; புனலின் நீங்கின் அதனைப் பிற அடும்= அப்புனலின் நீங்குமாயின் அதனைப் பிறவெல்லாம் வெல்லாநிற்கும்.
