வஞ்சப் புகழ்ச்சியணி
"தேவர்களும் கயவர்களும் சமமானவர்கள்; ஏனெனில் தேவர்களைப் போலவே கயவர்களும் தங்கள் மனம் விரும்பியதை எவர் கட்டுப்பாடும் இன்றிச் செய்கிறார்கள்!" — புகழ்வது போல் கூறி கயவர்களின் நெறியற்ற தன்மையை வள்ளுவர் மிகக் கடுமையாகச் சாடுகிறார். — "The base are just like the gods — for they too do whatever their capricious whims desire, accountable to no one!" On the surface he equates scoundrels to deities, but the underlying irony exposes their lawless shamelessness.

கீழ்= கீழாயினான்; அகப்பட்டி ஆவாரைக் காணின்= தன்னின் சுருங்கிய பட்டியாய் ஒழுகுவாரைக் கண்டானாயின்; அவரின் மிகப்பட்டுச் செம்மாக்கும்= அவ்வொழுக்கத்தின்கண், அவரில் தான் மேம்பட்டு, அதனால் தன் மிகுதிகாட்டி இறுமாக்கும்.
