We have all met the person whose word simply holds — what they say will happen, happens; what they promise, they keep. Over years that reliability becomes a kind of authority no title confers. The verse calls such people 'those of the full word,' and says their greatness needs no separate proof: their words themselves are the evidence.
எப்போதும் பலிக்கும் சொல்.
சொன்னது நடக்கும், வாக்களித்தது காக்கப்படும் — அப்படிச் சொல் தவறாத ஒருவரை நாம் எல்லாரும் சந்தித்திருக்கிறோம். ஆண்டுகள் செல்லச் செல்ல, அந்த நம்பகத்தன்மை எந்தப் பட்டமும் தராத அதிகாரமாகிறது. அப்படிப்பட்டவரை 'நிறைமொழி மாந்தர்' என்கிறது இக்குறள்; அவர்தம் பெருமைக்குத் தனிச் சான்று தேவையில்லை — அவர்தம் சொற்களே சான்று.
Words backed by a life.
An empty speaker can be eloquent; a 'full' speaker is something else — their words carry the weight of a whole disciplined life behind them. Parimelazhagar notes the full word blesses or warns and the effect simply follows. Authority of that kind is never claimed; it is earned, slowly, by being someone whose word matches their being.
வாழ்வால் நிறைந்த சொல்.
வெறுமையானவரும் சொல்வன்மை உடையவராக இருக்கலாம்; 'நிறைந்த' சொல்லர் வேறு — அவர்தம் சொற்களுக்குப் பின் ஒரு முழு ஒழுக்கமான வாழ்வின் எடை உண்டு. நிறைமொழி அருளினாலும் எச்சரித்தாலும், விளைவு பின்தொடரும் என்கிறார் பரிமேலழகர். அத்தகைய அதிகாரம் கோரிப் பெறப்படுவதில்லை; சொல்லும் உண்மையும் ஒன்றாயிருக்கும் ஒருவராக இருப்பதன் மூலம் மெல்ல ஈட்டப்படுகிறது.
Why we weigh the speaker, not just the speech.
The same sentence means little from one mouth and everything from another. We instinctively weigh who is speaking. The verse honours that instinct: the greatness of the full-worded is shown by their very utterances, because a life of integrity has made each word load-bearing.
சொல்லை மட்டுமல்ல, சொல்பவரையும் எடைபோடுவதேன்.
ஒரே வாக்கியம் ஒரு வாயிலிருந்து வரும்போது அற்பமாகவும், மற்றொரு வாயிலிருந்து வரும்போது எல்லாமுமாகவும் இருக்கும். யார் பேசுகிறார் என்பதை நாம் உள்ளுணர்வால் எடைபோடுகிறோம். அந்த உள்ளுணர்வை இக்குறள் போற்றுகிறது: நிறைமொழியாளரின் பெருமையை அவர்தம் சொற்களே காட்டுகின்றன — ஏனெனில் நேர்மையான வாழ்வு ஒவ்வொரு சொல்லையும் சுமைதாங்கும் வலிமையுடையதாக்கியிருக்கிறது.
A life of integrity makes the word itself the proof.
Valluvar says the greatness of sages 'of the full word' is proclaimed to the world by the very mantras they utter. No external certificate is needed: when a person's word has never been hollow, the words themselves carry, and bless or warn with real effect.
Make your word load-bearing.
Authority you can't fake is built one kept word at a time. Promise less, but let everything you say be backed by what you actually do, until people can lean on your word without checking. That alignment of word and life is a quieter, deeper power than any volume of talk.
